Do you support scanning a drivers license?

• U.S. Drivers Licenses are encoded using PDF417 which requires a 2D scanner.  We support the Motorola DS9208 2D scanner.
• The built in Clover scanner is NOT able to adequately read PDF417 so you will NOT be able to scan drivers licenses without purchasing a Motorola DS9208.
• The Motorola DS9208 or Honeywell ms7580  can be purchased through Amazon.com.  These are great scanners and have the added benefit of being able to scan codes directly from mobile device screens so you're ready to scan coupons directly from mobile devices
• If you already have a scanner attached to your Clover POS, test it to see if it is a 2D scanner and if it already configured. Just go the Clover REGISTER app and pull out your drivers license and try to scan the large code in the middle of the drivers license. Be sure to hide the code on the side of the drivers license and ONLY scan the large code in the middle.  If your scanner beeps and your Clover pulls up a lot of "gibberish" when you scan the drivers license (there may be a slight delay of up to 5 seconds), then the scanner is a 2D scanner and is ALREADY setup. You don't need to set it up any further!
